Can a lily get through winter?

Can a lily get through a english winter? I know that, as I would call it a %26#039;normal%26#039; lily can but, I had a lily that had green leafs with white spots and yellow flowers I kept it well protected through winter (now) and still am the leafs have died back like a normal lily but i was unsure if this type of lily would come back, will it?

It really depends on the variety of the Lily, %26amp; how hardy the bulb is for your zone. Without knowing the name %26amp; type of lily you have, it%26#039;s a wait %26amp; see situation.

There are about 100 species and many cultivars in each; extensively bred genus. The origin or native provenance helps determine the appropriate ecological garden habitat.

Good Luck!
Reply:Lillies are extremely hardy. If you mulched about six inches deep, you should see its return. The leaves will, of course, die back in winter but don%26#039;t give up. My lilies survive a Northern Michigan winter. In the spring, when the ground has warmed, I pull back the mulch, let the sunshine hit the soil and the lilies usually reappear about the middle of May.
Reply:There many species and varieties of lilies, some hardy -some tropical.

The first lily that comes to my mind that has white spotted leaves is a calla lily which isn%26#039;t very hardy.

Good luck.
