Story of the Lily Plant?

Hi, everyone!

I%26#039;m trying to find a story / parable / tale about a lily plant that our Priest read out at my mom%26#039;s funeral 5 years ago, but I don%26#039;t know the title of it! I%26#039;m hoping someone out there might know about this story.

The story is around a king / emperor who gives a lily plant to one of his subjects to look after. The subject takes great care in looking after the lily plant and it grows into a beautiful flower. The king / emperor comes back and asks the subject for the lily plant. The subject is disappointed because he thought the lily plant was his to keep. However, the king / emperor said that he had only given the lily plant to him to look after for a while.

The ending or morale of the story is that we are like the lily plant...we%26#039;re on earth for a short time to grow and blossom, but eventually God will come back for us.

Has anyone heard of this story?

Story of the Lily Plant?
This is a beautiful story, enjoyed reading it.

If you get a chance, you might want to ask the priest about it.
